Sebastián RIFFO
CGS theme : Climate Modeling Center (CMC)
Attracted by the opportunity to collaborate on interdisciplinary initiatives, Sebastián joined the Climate Modeling Center (CMC) in March 2024, after pursuing both a PhD and an M2 degree in Applied Mathematics from Université Paris Dauphine-PSL, and a Mathematical Engineering degree from Universidad de Chile.
His research focuses on developing an evaluation chain for the terrestrial surface component of the IPSL Earth System Model, ORCHIDEE, with the aim of integrating various independently considered processes into a unified structure — specifically, data post-processing, cataloging, visualization, quality assessment, and broader questions concerning the epistemological nature of evaluation. He is also involved in the development of an interactive visualization tool for ORCHIDEE, as well as in ongoing efforts related to the IPSL model evaluation platform, C-ESM-EP.
