Aya BAHI

Postdoctoral Fellow at LSCE since 2023

CGS theme : Paleoclimate: « Understanding past climate evolutions, variability and its impact on environment »

Aya Bahi is a post-doctoral researcher at the Laboratoire des Sciences du Climat et de l’Environnement (LSCE), part of the IPSL.

She holds a PhD in geosciences from Sorbonne University and specialises in environmental modelling and hydrosystems. Her scientific background includes expertise in hydrology, geochemistry and numerical modelling. She has also developed teaching skills at AgroParisTech. Her current research focuses on isotope cycles in the soil-plant-atmosphere system.

Presentation of work at the IPSL

My research at the IPSL is part of the development of the ORCHIDEE model. I am working specifically on the integration of isotopic modules to simulate the fluxes and stocks of heavy water (H218O and HDO) in the compartments of the earth system: canopy, soil, snow. The aim is to improve the representation of the water cycle in climate models, using observed isotopic data. This work will help to strengthen the SLPI’s capacity to model the impact of climate change on terrestrial ecosystems.
